I joined Hazel Grove in 1976 and have done all
my training with them. I enjoy all types of diving. I have been
equipment officer (10 years) and DO (1 year). I like messing with
boats and I help with training new members. |

Hi, I joined the club in 2002 to escape a two week old
marriage and a very demanding wife. I am a Dive Leader
now and dive most weekends, anywhere and anytime. I'm looking
forward to my first stint on the committee and hope to
organise some spectacular diving throughout the year. If
you've got any good diving locations or fancy a dive
give me a ring. |

Colin took up diving in March 1999, It is something that he had
wanted to do for a long time, but never had the time no money to
do so. He qualified as a Sports diver in January 01 and has done
a fair bit of diving abroad and loves the coral reefs, exotic fish
and other wild life. |

Mark or "'orrible" as he is affectionately known by his friends, has been with HGSAC since September 2001 and is an active Advanced Diver. He is also an IANTD trimix diver and has IANTD gas blender, BSAC Diver cox’n, Oxygen admin. And advanced nitrox qualification. He is also on the first steps to becoming an OWI
He took up diving because he was turning into a fat and lazy alcoholic and desperately needed a hobby that would bring him closer to nature and further away from the clinic. This didn’t work!
Since taking up diving he has met many friends with whom he can communicate on the same wavelength, he is particularly close to a bike riding fish that lives under the third rock on the left just close to an old transit van near the bottom of a “large disused quarry” in north Wales.

I first became a member of the dive club at the age of 13 when i completed the snorkelling course. I then went on to do scuba diving at 14 and have been a member of the dive club for 7 years now. I decided to help with the snorkelling training towards the end of 2006 as i feel it is a great way to build confidence in the water and allows you to have more fun when on holiday which is what i enjoyed the most. We have now done several training courses for all ages and are able to train at an individuals pace and competence. Many people find that once they master the basics they are able to pick up other aspects very quickly and everyone has gone on to complete the course, some even carrying on to train in scuba diving.

"As the clubs Dive Planning officer I try to organise a number of dive trips throughout the year around the UK. I also encourage other members to organise trips, helping them where needed."

I sort of fell into diving in 2001 when I was 14. I had just done the snorkelling course that the club was offering at the time and I was told that the club had just decided that you could start diving training at the age of 14. I jumped at the chance but I think my parents quickly regretted it financially.
Now I've been diving for 6 years and I still love it (even in the UK!) In that time I've progressed to being a Dive Leader and have taken over running the snorkelling course where I started. Hopefully I'll get round to doing a bit more of my instructor training as well.
Being a member of the diving club brings about hundreds of opportunities and there a very few people who don't love it all as much as I do.
