Learn to Snorkel

Snorkelling is great fun, easy to learn and an ideal way to build up confidence in the water. It is accessible to anyone - young or old - and is an enjoyable way to get the whole family involved in water sports. If you’re not confident in the water or you’d like your children to build on their abilities in the water, book a try-snorkel to learn more about this fun activity.

HGSAC try-snorkel sessions are conducted by fully qualified BSAC instructors and give you the opportunity to discover what snorkelling is all about. A try-snorkel involves poolside introduction to the equipment followed by a session in the 3m Reddish Vale High School pool (for use by SCUBA divers only during the try dive session). It's relaxed, fun - and focused on you! There's no pressure, no expectations and the session will be conducted at a pace of your choosing. If at any time you are worried or uncomfortable, simply stand up!

Love the experience? HGSACs snorkelling courses are open to children and adults alike. Starting with our Dolphin Snorkeler or Snorkel Diver course (depending on your ability) and progressing to Snorkel Dive Manager or Snorkel Instructor. Minimum participant age is 8. Under 18s much be accompanied by an adult who is more than welcome to participate too if they like!
